Bhubaneswar : Did you miss out on watching the historical play “Ahe Nilashaila” during its last leg here ? Fret not ! the play is all set to take the stage once again, as it is scheduled to be showcased from April 5 to 9 at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar the capital city of Odisha. “I am elated that ‘Ahe Nilashaila’ is going to be staged once again for five days. The love from the audience as the overwhemling demand has compels us to keep coming back again and again. I hope those who have not watched the play will make use of this opportunity. The drama has received critical acclaimed from all quarters and we are very happy that Choklate Productions is able to spread Jagannath culture through this play” said Tanaya Patnaik, Executive Director of Sambad Group. The play, which has been produced under the banner of Choklate Production, has gained immense popularity among theatre enthusiasts. In Bhubaneswar, it will be performed by the artistes for the fourth time. It was most recently showcased at New Delhi during the Odisha Parba last week. On its inaugural day at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, the play got a roaring response from the Odias residing in the national capital. It was also staged at Rabinder Kala Kshetra in Bangalore during Odisha Utsav October last. The play features a stellar cast of actors, including some of the most talented theatre artists. The script of the play has been written by Shankar Tripathy and Dr. Pratima Hota while Lala Biren Ray is the director of the play. The play depicts how the then king Gajapati Ramachandra Deva had to undergo utold miseries for protecting Lord Jagannath from the evil eyes of Naib Nazim. Its story is partially inspired by Sahgitya Akademi Award-winning Odia author Surendra Mohanty’s famous novel “Nila Saila’. The play features actors lawrence Behera (Gajapati Ramchandra Deva), Sofia Alam (Maharani), Prakash Jena (Mohammed Taqi Khan), Shraddha Panigrahi (Rezia) and Manisha Rath (Sardei), among others.
