Seminar conducted on Medico-Legal Update by Indian Chamber of Commerce

Bhubaneswar: During the COVID wave the doctors and the health worker performed a risky and noble job. But nowadays there have been significant cases where these doctors and health workers are being harassed and assaulted by general public or miscreants. On this sensitive topic of medico-legal issues Indian chamber of commerce conducted a seminar at Amri hospital, Bhubaneswar. In this seminar the emphasis was for the safety and well-being of the doctors some stringent law should be created was discussed. Many notable doctors and advocates joined the session and expressed their views on the same. Mr J B Pany, Chairman, ICC Odisha State Council welcomed the gathering and spoke about the importance of this seminar and how it is the need of the hour to protect the healthcare staff. Mrs Nilanjana Mukherjee, Convenor, Healthcare and Life Science Committee, ICC Odisha State council and Vice President and head,
AMRI hospital , shed light on the violence that has been happening against doctors and the legal cases that have been surmounting up against them. Dr Alok Srivastava, Director-Medical Services, Apollo Hospital spoke about the steps that can be taken by every section of the society to ensure safety and welfare of the medical community. Prof Dr Sachidananda Mohanty of the forensic medicine, AIIMS Bhubaneswar spoke about the laws on the abuse and assault on the health workers. Assistant professor Dr Mukul Sharma of AIIMS raibareli spoke about the do’s and don’ts of medical negligence on the part of the doctors. Similarly advocate of Odisha High court Bibhu Prasad Satpathy, joint secretary of Indian bar association put light on landmark judgement. In this seminar Mr J B Pany, chairman, ICC odisha council, Mrs Nilanjana Mukherjee, convenor, Healthcare and Life science committee, ICC ODISHA STATE COUNCIL and Vice president and Head, Amri hospital, Mr J P Pal, Regional head, ICC Odisha State Council and Dr Alok Srivastava, Director-medical services, Apollo Hospital also graced the occasion. Along with them other dignitaries and doctors with advocates joined the session and made it a success. Lastly Mrs Nilanjana Mukherjee, Convenor, Healthcare and Life science committee, ICC ODISHA STATE COUNCIL and Vice President and Head, AMRI hospital expressed the vote of thanks expressing gratitude to everyone present.
