KALIA Scheme: Farmers To Get Assistance Money By Jan 26

Bhubaneswar: Beneficiaries under the KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme will get monetary assistance from January 26.

In first phase, the funds will be directly credited to the bank accounts of 12.4 lakh farmers already dealing transactions with the Cooperation Department.

Speaking to media, Cooperation Minister SN Patro said farmers, who have recently applied for the KALIA scheme will get financial assistance after verification and scrutiny of their application forms.

On December 21, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced this scheme that would provide financial, livelihood, cultivation support along with insurance support to small, marginal and landless farmers.

“Over 30 lakh small and marginal farmers of the State will be covered under this scheme. An amount of Rs 10,000 per family (Rs 5,000 each for Kharif and Rabi seasons) will be provided as financial assistance for taking up cultivation. To ensure comprehensive coverage, the assistance will be provided for five cropping seasons spanning three years from 2018-19 to 2021-22,” said an official.

The scheme aims at benefiting about 92 per cent farmers in the State and Rs 10,180 crore has been earmarked for its implementation in 3 years.
