Indoor stadium to be constructed in Balangir by GAIL under CSR initiative
Ground Breaking done by Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan
Balangir: Seeking to enhance sporting facilities in Odisha, Hon’ble Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today carried out the Ground Breaking of an indoor stadium here.
The Ground Breaking of the stadium to be built at Prithvi Raj High School was carried out in the presence of Hon’ble leader of opposition, Odisha Legislative Assembly and Hon’ble MLA, Shri Narasingha Mishra, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Balangir Shri Kalikesh N Singh Deo, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Patnagarh Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, former Member of Parliament, Balangir Smt. Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, Headmistress, PR High School, Balangir, Smt. Santoshini Sethi, Director (HR), GAIL (India) Ltd. Shri P. K. Gupta, senior officials of GAIL India, students of PR High School and other dignitaries.
The stadium will be constructed by GAIL (India) Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The stadium will have a main hall with four badminton courts, one table tennis practice room and gallery space, besides players changing rooms, lockers and other facilities. It will be built using pre-engineered construction technology for faster construction and quality control.
It will also have facilities for rain water harvesting and the external lighting will be powered by solar energy.
The stadium will be constructed at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore.
GAIL (India) Limited, the country’s premier natural gas company, is constructing the Jagadishpur – Haldia & Bokaro – Dhamra pipeline, also known as ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’. GAIL is also carrying out City Gas Distribution in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
GAIL supports upcoming and established talent in a number of sporting activities and promotes events to unearth country’s best sports talents. One of them is the ‘GAIL Raftaar’ Athletic Talent Hunt which seeks to identify athletes to represent India in the Olympic Games.
