Bhubaneswar:Xavier Institute of management, Bhubaneswar organized “X-Athon’18” on Sunday, 7th October, 2018 with an aim to promote healthier lifestyles and at the same time spreading awareness and raising funds for a social cause. This is a prelude to the XIMB’s annual cultural and Business festive; “Xpressions 2018” which is scheduled to take place from 16th to 18th November 2018.
X-Athon is the 10kms marathon, a prelude to Xpressions, organized and conducted by the budding managers of XIMB in collaboration with Rhino wires and cables – Gupta Power and NTPC as a part of campus engagement initiatives. More than 500 people including college students, corporate employees, and people of diverse age groups participated in the run.

The proceeds from the events went to schools of specially challenged children. This year the theme for X-athon concentrates on creating awareness about mental health, ‘Sweat out your Depression’. This marathon aims to encourage people to break away from all the sorrow, gloom, dispiritedness, negativity and race forth with rejuvenated vigor and zest.
Later, the Social Responsibility Cell (SRC), XIMB in association with Xpressions Steering Committee (X-STEC) organized X-Enable. This is an initiative with a vision of letting the specially-abled ones take flight in the arena of sports. It is rightly said, “Limitations live only in your mind”. It’s a platform for such special children where they exhibit their nonchalance, mettle, and willpower. Corporate Sector is also encouraged to be a part of this sincere and empowering effort by SRC to include our specially-abled friends in our lives, laugh with them, and grow with them. Children from 4 schools participated, namely, Swabhiman, Chetana, The Institute for helping Disabled, and Aaina. The event witnessed more than 80 participants in various sports like 100m race, skipping, lemon spoon race, 3 legged race, mini basketball, mini volleyball, etc. Trophies and certificates for various events were distributed. The prize distribution ceremony was followed by lunch and sweets distribution by the volunteers.
At the heart of Xpressions, eastern India’s biggest management cultural fest lies these two CSR events: X-Enable and Xathon which XIMB hosts every year through a plethora of competitions and activities, as a way of giving something back to the society, keeping the 30 years of its legacy alive.
