Maoists torch Mobile Towers in Koraput during PLGA Week |

Koraput: The Maoists torched two mobile towers in Koraput on Friday while observing an occasion on completion of the 11th years of People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA).
Police said that the red rebels torched a BSNL tower at Mathapada and an Airtel tower at Kalia Attala village in Boipariguda block on Friday. They also left posters and banners on the school walls and roadside trees appealing the youths to join their military front.
The move came while the Maoists are observing People's Liberation Guerrilla Army's foundation week (December 2-8). The posters were seen at Boipariguda, Lamtaput, Kundra and Mathili blocks and also Govindapali.
Meanwhile, police and the BSF along with GreyHound forces of Andhra Pradesh launched a joint combing operation in the border areas of Koraput district. The border was sealed from 6 PM to 6 AM and vehicles including two wheelers were checked in the area to avoid any attack.
Police said that they will keep vigil over the areas till the end of the week. All the shops and business establishments remained closed in many parts of the district including Lamtaput, Machhkund and Ankadelli as well as Balimela, Chitrakonda, Padia and Motu areas in Malkangiri district.
Even the movement of the government and private buses has been restricted in the areas Around 20 OSRTC buses have been cancelled from Jeypore depot to Malkangiri, Rayagada, Phulbani and Gajapati districts. Buses running from Jeypore to Bhubaneswar and other parts of the State via Rayagada were cancelled. Kirandul and Visakhapatnam train was also cancelled for the week.
